2017 National Single Speed Championship Program

Friday 5th May

You’ll be descending on Melrose from all points of the compass for the 2017 Single Speed Australian Nationals and you’ll need to get ya passport stamped! An exclusive Single Speed passport! This passport is your ticket to the top of the podium, the more stamps you get the greater your chance of national fame!! So this time when you enter South Australia you will need to bring your passport and you’ll need to get it stamped at a few choice locations!

On arrival into the oldest town in the Flinders we expect you’ll be parched and in need of some local refreshments, so we’ve arranged for registrations to be held at the Mt Remarkable Hotel along with the beginnings of a great many trials, tribulations and festivities over the weekend.

Don’t forget to meet the locals, who understand the finer points of single speeding and maybe able to offer a few tips about what’s best in this town, like the schnitzels that are as big as ya face or perhaps the local fillet mignon!

Saturday 6th May

Best to start the day right with a famous coffee from Over the Edge bike shop and a big breaky hosted by the good folk at Under the Mount accommodation. Today a new champion will be born!

Your central meeting point will be atop the Melrose Pump track located at the Melrose Caravan Park just up Joes Rd (check with the locals if you’re unsure) Don’t forget not only will we crown a new champion today but we will also decide the next host for the 2018 Single Speed Nationals.

Your days racing will consist of a frenzied accumulation of a vast amount of points from a myriad of silly games to eventually draw out one outstanding cyclist!

Lunch will be catered for by one of our exceptional volunteer groups who will no doubt continue the fine exposition of some impeccable cuisine

The day will round out with a presentation dinner, some carefully crafted beers and a little light entertainment in the form of 16” bike jousting as we settle the rights to host the 2018 Single Speed Nationals!

Want more? Well the 2017 Nationals wouldn’t be complete without an after party….enter the inaugural Burning Bike festival located at a secret location, whispered through secret channels during the weekend, stay vigilant, stay aware, stay tuned
