Southern Flinders Rough Riders is our local mountain bike club. All volunteers are passionate about building sustainable singletrack. The purpose of building these trails is to encourage all types of riders to the sport so whether it be a pump track, Super D or green family trails come and join us. Make friends with like minded riders, share a yarn or two, breath some fresh air and feel happy and content that you are contributing to the network of awesome trails that are enjoyed by riders from around the world.
If you are new to track building team up with some locals who are out there maintaining existing trails and this will give them the opportunity to explain the do’s and don’ts. (We don’t want to have to pull down or dig up all your hard work because you weren’t aware of the policies!)
A few times during the year, IMBA and SAMBA come to Melrose to help build trails. They are sponsors of our events and will be providing some fantastic trail building workshops so these are not to be missed if you are serious about contributing!
SFRR work very hard to win grants which will allow us to build more trails however at the moment working on our existing trails to make these more exiting and sustainable is our short term goal. Our long term goal is to develop a 10 year plan with new sustainable trails and present these to all land users, providing a clear vision and focus!
