Lake Eyre – Kati Thanda – is Australia’s largest inland lake situated 700km north of Adelaide in South Australia. It’s incredible colours and patterns become accentuated from the air whether full of water or totally dry. Recent rains have seen it begin to fill with water for the first time in years. This is an event not to be missed as Lake Eyre has only filled to capacity three times in the past 15 years. With the recent wet weather, the area has seen an amazing transformation from brown and red outback colours, to lush greenery, and an increase in birdlife. With sections of the Oodnadatta Track now closed to vehicles, the best way to experience this rare phenomenon is from the air. They’ve put together some great accommodation & scenic flight packages.
